ADHERA 2 is the mlpc equipment designed to measure the Longitudinal Friction Coefficient (CFL) with blocked wheels, on wet pavement.

Combination of the test results at different speeds allows quantifying the texture of the pavement. A car type wheel, on which a fixed vertical load is applied, is pulled at constant speed by a tractor vehicle also ensuring water spraying of the pavement. The wheel being prevented from rotating along a distance of 20 m or so, the average torque ensuring balance with the friction torque exerted by the pavement on the tire is then measured.

The measuring wheel and its servo-brake are carried by a rigid girder the mode of which is close to that of the components of a private car. The load consists of a structure attached to the girder through an original suspension/shock-absorber system. The service equipment units, designed as modules which can be readily installed on board different types of tractor vehicles, consist of a water tank, a water-spraying module (variable spraying flow rate), and an electronic control and measurement module. Power supply to the assembly is ensured by a separate thermal unit.

During the tests, the tractor vehicle and trailer are rigidly connected together through a universal joint brake. The measurement can be performed in the traffic flow. The control station, fully computerized, provides guidance to the operator for the performance of the tests, while displaying the information collected, and providing the possibility of editing hard copies of the results.

Testing speed: 40 to 120 km/h;
Autonomy: 25 to 60 measurements
Trailer dimensions:
L = 2.00 m; w = 1.00 m Weight: 300 kg
